Patience

"ALL GOOD THINGS COME TO HE WHO WAITS"

There's things I have been waiting for but nothing has come about.  As time goes by, I noticed that my patience is lacking these days.  Basically I feel that I don't have the patience I did a few years back.  Mind you, when I was a teenager I had no patience for anything but I learned as I got older. But when I hit my mid thirties...it went out the door!

I find that I don't have patience with coworkers, family, friends and I guess even strangers. When I am at a store I don't have any patience with the clerks.  I will walk out if no one acknowledges my presence ( I learned from working retail, you have to acknowledge every customer that walks in the door) and I will also walk out if it takes a long time to be served!  When I want something done I want it done now!  I can't wait.  (Actually my husband is like that with renos around the house.) With me it's the everyday things.  I don't have the patience for anything!!!

Anyhow... as part of my 101 in 1001 days, being more patient is one of the items I want to accomplish.  I have to take it as it comes. I have to learn to relax more. I think if I am more easy going and laid back, patience will come.  And when it does I think I will be prepared.

"NEVER RUN AFTER A BUS OR A MAN.  THERE WILL ALWAYS BE ANOTHER ONE."

I totally agree with the above quote!  Do you have any patience?

Patiently yours,
Ginna

  1. Great question Gina! I think there is a difference between PATIENCE and EXPECTATIONS. Like, customer service. You mentioned walking out---- I don't think that is impatient but if not done in a huff only underlines your expectations. I think the older we get we "know" things. This knowledge sometimes makes us feel impatient when it might be something else. And sometimes... :) I'm just impatient plain and simple!

  2. I agree, great question and true honesty! I think we are programmed to be impatient. We live in an "instant gratification" society. We want what we want and we want it NOW! Even if it's cooperation from family members and friends. For me, I stop for a moment and try to figure out what is my immediate need that is not being met. Sometimes when I just stop to look at that, whatever that is going on seems to not be as immediately important (if that makes sense).

As for customer service, that is something I expect. Unless a clerk is engaged with someone else, I want to be acknowledged, as soon as I walk through the door. It is their job that they are getting paid for and a service that is to be expected.

This post really made me think, thank you!
